Ship - Port
Like one large ship the containers have arrived at port. One of the ship’s features, a museum, is a survey through time and space visiting what Newark has been as well as what it will become.
The site is self sustaining with amenities found on an ocean liner . 5 main atria connect museum, theatre, station arrivals, sports complex/spa/ day care center, container retrofit center, microbrewery, shopping, restaurants and cafe's, dry cleaners, supermarket, bookstore, salon, jogging track, and a green roof garden promenade. Circulation and views make the site extremely engaging and interactive.
ATRIA - Light flooding atria bring light as well as special features to daily life.
Each living unit atrium provides excellent daylighting and natural ventilation which is maximzed by staggering and stacking each unit to allow sunlight to flood the ground level. Heating and cooling efficiency is greatly increased with site orientation and insulating green roof.
Additional integrated systems features include rainwater collection, bioswales, geothermal heating and cooling via chilled ceilings and underfloor air distribution. Solar panels power pumps efficiently for water involved.
The ship's zero waste plan processes it's organic waste into biomass for fuel or compost for use on it's green roof and for wholesale distribution. trash compactors are available for recycling.
A container processing center constructs living units to an owner's specifications for onsite or offsite installation.
The microbrewery adds identity and pride to a site that can grow Newark's own brand beer. |
