Sensing above and Touching below

The design aims to respond to the site's surrounding context and to explore a new idea of utilizing shipping containers as structure for the building. In contrast to the solid-stack of typical shipping containers arrangement, our proposal forms a unique stacking structure that allows more flexiblity in integrating building into the site. Shipping containers are stack, rotated and shifted in order to maximize the natural sunlight and ventilation to an interior space for each unit. They are, then,linked together to from a larger
complex. Every residential units has a view of the sky, fresh air and its own green space right in front of their units. This complex integrates an experience of sky and ground into one. Every residents is Sensin above and touch below" at the same time wherever their units are.

With its flexibility, building is arranged into organic parametric shape in order to perfectly fit the site boundary. For public function, containers at The middle section of buidling are removed to create a 3-dimensional park--forming a gateway to city. Commercial/retials spaces are located at the first level surround a site and gateway plaza. Our proposal is designed to encourage more people to live and work in the same area, so as contribute to a more sustainable city.
